Reformed Theological Seminary welcomes Dr. Carl F. Ellis, Jr. and Karen Ellis into the RTS family

  • Carl Ellis named Senior Fellow of AALI and Provost’s Professor of Theology and Culture
  • Karen Ellis named as inaugural Cannada Fellow for World Christianity
RTS is thrilled to announce that Dr. Carl F. Ellis, Jr. has been named Assistant to the Chancellor, Senior Fellow of the African American Leadership Initiative, and Provost’s Professor of Theology and Culture. As leader of the institution-wide AALI, Dr. Ellis will teach, and collaborate with our presidents, deans and faculty to cultivate our mentoring and modeling of students who aspire to serve in predominantly black church and multi-ethnic contexts, as well as to promote fellowship for our African American students. He will work directly with the Chancellor as RTS seeks to grow the minority leadership of this generation and the next in the Reformed community, and to increase in our institutional diversity.

We are also delighted that Ms. Karen Ellis (Ph.D. candidate, Oxford Centre for Missions) has been named Cannada Fellow for World Christianity. A Cannada Fellow is a distinguished visiting scholar, honored for expertise in particular fields of study. Cannada Fellows lecture at RTS (at various campuses), contribute to RTS publications (especially the journal: Reformed Faith & Practice), office and receive library privileges at an RTS campus during sabbatical or study leave, and more. The Cannada Fellow program is named in honor of The Reverend Dr. Robert C. “Ric” Cannada, Jr., Chancellor Emeritus of RTS, in view of his substantial contributions to the mission of RTS and his strategic involvement in spreading the Reformed faith around the world. Karen’s academic specialties include the persecuted church and world Christianity.
